Virtex and Skybox Collaborate to Offer Immersive CS:GO Viewing Experience in Metaverse

Esports entertainment startup Virtex has joined forces with Counter-Strike spectator analysis tool provider Skybox Technologies to develop a virtual spectator experience for Counter-Strike in the metaverse. The collaboration marks the first tier-one esport to receive Virtex support.

The partnership enables Virtex to offer esports fans a unique viewing experience in a virtual stadium, complete with stands, bar areas, and an immersive VR match viewing experience that places the viewer ‘inside’ competitive CS games. Skybox, with years of experience in providing spectator and analysis solutions for CS:GO, is assisting Virtex in integrating Counter-Strike maps into the virtual stadium to ensure seamless operation of in-game models and spectator tools.

Virtex is currently in closed beta, pitching its service to various partners in the esports space, including teams seeking dedicated stadiums for fans, tournament organizers looking to boost event revenue, and brands aiming to increase activations and engagement. Skybox has already established relationships within the esports community, with its technology being used at ESL events and by CS:GO teams such as NAVI and Team Liquid for a competitive advantage.

The two companies believe their collaboration will generate significant fan experiences even over long distances by offering virtual hangout spaces and a deep 3D spectator experience that immerses the viewer within matches, allowing them to focus on specific players or areas.

Virtex co-founder Tim Mcguiness expressed excitement about introducing Counter-Strike to the Virtex Stadium, stating that it gives fans a chance to enjoy top-level gameplay in a never-before-seen way. With CS:GO ranking as the third most-watched esport last year, Mcguiness is eager to work with Skybox to deliver a unique 360° spectating experience for each fan.
