This year brings with it groundbreaking changes, fresh teams, and innovative formats, all converging on the road to crowning the next VALORANT World Champion. Let’s dive into what makes the 2024 VCT Season a landmark event in esports history.

The Stage is Set: Meet the Competitors

This season, each International League will feature 11 formidable teams, including the newly promoted squads from 2023. Additionally, the VCT expands with the introduction of VCT CN, marking it as the 4th league. These teams will battle through various stages, including the Kickoff Tournament, two International League competitions, and two Masters tournaments, all leading to the prestigious Champions 2024.

Kickoff Tournament: Setting the Tempo for the Season

The Kickoff Tournament in February is where the magic starts, determining two teams per league for Masters Madrid. This tournament sets the tone for the season, identifying the strongest teams both regionally and internationally.

International League Start Dates:

  • Americas: February 16
  • Pacific: February 17
  • EMEA: February 20
  • CN: February 22

Kickoff Tournament Format:

  • Group Stage: 11 teams split into three groups, with the region’s top team getting a bye in the group of 3. Double elimination brackets with Best-of-3 matches determine the winners and second-place teams.
  • Play-In Stage: The three second-place teams compete in a round-robin format, with one earning a spot in the Playoff Stage.
  • Playoff Stage: Four teams, including the Play-In winner, compete in a single elimination bracket. The two finalists secure their place for Masters Madrid, with the Kickoff winner receiving preferential seeding and 3 Championship points.

The Season Format: The Journey to Champions

The season heats up with Stage 1 running from April to early May, opening the door for the top three teams from each league to qualify for Masters Shanghai. Stage 2, following Masters Shanghai, is the final battleground for teams vying for a spot in VALORANT Champions. The IL Champion will be crowned at the end of Stage 2 Playoffs, securing the top seed for their region at Champions.

Championship Points: A Measure of Consistency

In 2024, Championship Points will play a crucial role. They are awarded for victories in regional Kickoff, Masters Madrid, Masters Shanghai, and each stage’s playoffs. Regular season match wins during Stages 1 and 2 also contribute points. This system ensures that consistent performance throughout the season is duly recognized and rewarded.
