VALORANT, the tactical first-person shooter that has taken the eSports world by storm, is back with a bang!
In a recent video update, VALORANT Game Director Andy Ho and Global Head of VALORANT Esports, Leo Faria, unveiled the next phase of the game’s competitive system – Premier.
Premier, VALORANT’s team-based competitive system, is set to officially launch on August 29th.
This system aims to seamlessly integrate the game and the sport, offering a unified platform for teams and friends to compete.
The initial numeric divisions from 1 through 20 used during the test phases will be replaced. Players can now look forward to divisions named Open, Intermediate, Advanced, Elite, and the pinnacle – Contender.
Players can now battle it out across all seven maps in the competitive pool, offering a diverse and challenging gameplay experience.
VALORANT will now officially start recording players’ career histories and results, providing a comprehensive overview of their competitive journey.
The excitement is palpable as Premier is now directly linked with the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT).
Starting in early 2024, players aiming for the open qualifiers of VALORANT Challengers must have played in the Contender division of Premier. This replaces the previous requirement of being ranked Immortal and above.
By Q2 of 2024, top teams from the Contender level will face off against Challenger teams in a promotion-relegation event. This signifies that all new teams aiming for Challengers will first have to ascend through Premier.
Starting from Q4 of 2024, both Challengers and Premier will operate year-round, eliminating long breaks between seasons. This ensures continuous action and competition for players and fans alike.
To maintain the competitive spirit of the game, pro players active on a Challengers or International League roster will not be permitted to join a Premier team.
