League Champion Shatters KDA Record in LEC Spring Split 2023

The LEC Spring regular split concluded last week, with XL Esports and Team Heretics being eliminated. These two teams will have to wait until the next split to try again, while the top eight teams advance to the Group Stage to determine the four teams competing for the Spring Split title and a spot in the Mid-Season Invitational in London next month.

The pro play meta experienced a minor shift from the Winter Split, as ranged supports gave way to engage champions. This had a ripple effect on the marksman meta, with Zeri and Xayah taking the lead in pick rate. Although they have impressive KDAs (4.1 for Zeri, 7.1 for Xayah, according to Games of Legends stats site), another ADC achieved the highest KDA ever recorded in LEC regular splits.

Draven shattered the record for the highest split KDA, achieving an astounding average KDA of 36.0 (as per Games of Legends) across four games. This surpasses the previous record shared by Veigar (LEC Spring 2022) and Lucian (LEC Spring 2020), who both had an average KDA of 23.0.

Hans Sama, Exakick, and Comp contributed to these exceptional results, with Comp going deathless despite losing his single Draven game, further boosting the KDA figure. There was only one death in the four games, occurring in the series between G2 Esports and XL Esports.

Despite Draven appearing on Summoner’s Rift just four times, teams seem to recognize his strength and potential in the pro play meta. Draven was banned 25 times in total, making him the third most-banned champion in the split, a significant increase from his seven bans in the previous split (according to Games of Legends).

Draven is typically chosen to outplay opponents in the lane, utilizing his powerful early game to dominate enemies. With the current meta’s abundance of hypercarries, he serves as the ideal counter-pick to crush them in the laning phase and delay their scaling.

Although more Draven games are expected in the near future, it appears that this record-breaking KDA will likely remain unbeaten for years to come.
