Ukrainian squad Monte eliminate TheMongolz from Paris Major with Anubis win streak intact

Monte secured a narrow win against TheMongolz in their BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023 Challengers Stage match.

TheMongolz started on the back foot after Monte forced them into a Nuke pick, a map they are not comfortable with.

In the first half, TheMongolz only managed to get four rounds on the board, which made Monte’s job easier in the second half. TheMongolz fought back in the second half, with Techno getting a couple of multi-kills to bring his team within two rounds of their opponents. However, they were not able to put their economy in a good enough situation to withstand consecutive round losses, which ultimately cost them the map. Monte’s DemQQ emerged as the unlikely hero, providing 32 kills to guide Monte to victory.

In the second map, Anubis, Monte secured a 16-12 victory over TheMongolz, extending their winning streak on the map to 15. The match was closely contested, with the two teams evenly matched for most of the game. It wasn’t until Monte’s Woro2k secured a 1vs4 clutch to stop TheMongolz’s streak and put his team 14-11 up that the majority-Ukrainian side gained the momentum needed to close out the match.

Monte now moves on to the 2-2 pool on Thursday, with their matchup yet to be decided. If they win their next match, they will qualify for the Legends Stage, while a loss will mean they’ll be eliminated from the tournament.

On the other hand, TheMongolz exit the tournament with a 1-3 record, matching their IEM Rio Major performance, and are left to rue the two close losses against Monte.
