The Last Chance Bracket at ESL Pro League S20 is won by Complexity.

The ESL Pro League Season 20 Group Stage has come to an end with Groups C and D playing their final games today. After several weeks of fierce battles, the list of teams that will compete in the Playoffs in Malta is defined. Now, let’s take a closer look at the most exciting matches of the Group C and D and the key fights of the group stage!

Complexity and FURIA go through Last Chance Brackets

Complexity has qualified for the ESL Pro League S20 Playoffs but they had to sweat for it. At first, they were placed in the Last Chance Bracket in Group C, which means they had to face such teams as Astralis and MOUZ. However, Complexity did not back down and only lost a single map to Astralis on their way to winning the match. Grim and floppy were the most outstanding players for them and it seemed like they had regained their best form.

Earning their spot in the Playoffs is FURIA who also followed the same path in Group D. Lower Bracket match-ups may not have been very challenging for FURIA but they played with more energy. They have improved in their form in the recent matches and will be heading to the Playoffs; they will be eager to transfer the energy to the matches in Malta.

The reigning champions of the competition MOUZ disappointingly exit the competition in the group stage

The biggest surprise of ESL Pro League S20 has been the elimination of MOUZ. MOUZ were the champions of Seasons 18 and 19 and therefore, they had a lot of expectations when they started Season 20. But their journey was cut short in the Group Stage, which was one of the worst performances in the recent past. They have not looked this fragile since IEM Dallas in May.

Some of the reasons that led to MOUZ’s poor performance include poor individual performances. Brollan was poor in an event that was not his strong suit, Jimpphat was not at his world-beating best, and torzsi was worse than he had been in the early part of 2024 when he had been playing like a man reborn after a poor 2022. Still, MOUZ is a relatively new team, so they will probably just prepare for the next events.

Challenging Period for Astralis and Falcons

This was a rather poor tournament for both Astralis and Falcons as they were eliminated in the Group Stage. Astralis, which was still trying out dev1ce as the in-game leader, had some potential but their T-side plays were terrible. Their CT-sides were quite good at times, but the team was being selfish, which is quite like a typical FACEIT pug. Since IGL HooXi is still in the market, it is high time for Astralis to let go of the dev1ce experiment and sign a new IGL.

Falcons fared no better. Even with a team full of talent and experience, they could not beat teams of real substance. Speculations about NiKo’s transfer to another team have not helped the situation either, which has affected the team’s performance even more. They were able to beat ATOX in the first match but Virtus.pro sent them packing in the second match. IGL Snappi said that they were at the lowest they could be, and it is hard to dispute this after the team’s poor performance in Malta.
