syrsoN, one of the most successful AWPers in Germany, has now left the active lineup of BIG. The organization shared the news on X, formerly known as Twitter, and said that the conversation about syrsoN’s future is still ongoing. This is the end of his second tenure with BIG that started in February 2024.
syrsoN’s Journey with BIG
syrsoN signed with BIG in January 2020 and quickly became one of the most important players for the team and one of the best snipers in Germany. His contributions were instrumental in securing victories at major events like DreamHack Masters Spring 2020 and cs_summit 6 Europe, as well as earning “Legends” status at several CS:GO Majors.
syrsoN left the team in August 2023 to consider opportunities with the international lineup 00NATION and returned to BIG in February 2024. He came back to the team to help bring back the German language in the team after they had to let go of Mateusz “mantuu” Wilczewski.
Performance in 2024
While playing for BIG for the second time, syrsoN had stable individual results, but the team did not achieve major successes. His average LAN rating stood at 6.0, with the best showings in the latter half of 2024:
- Shanghai Major Europe RMR: BIG qualified with a perfect score of 3-0.
- ESL Challenger Atlanta: BIG reached the finals.
- ESL Pro League Season 20: The team placed 13th-16th.
But the highs of the season were marred by a poor showing at the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 where BIG did not win a single game in the Elimination stage and placed 15th-16th.
Why the Roster Change?
Information regarding the decision to bench syrsoN is still scarce to this date. HLTV sources have reported that BIG is looking to make roster changes as they head into the year 2025. Marcel “hyped” Köhn, who was a member of the team only for the last year on loan from ALTERNATE aTTaX, is said to be the man replacing syrsoN.
