Álvaro “SunPayus” García has now left Falcons after only one year with the team. The Saudi-based esports team later on announced his departure through their social media platforms, stating that they are grateful for his contributions and wishing him well in his future endeavors, especially being a Spanish AWPer.
A Year of Unmet Expectations
SunPayus signed for Falcons in December 2023, which brought Snappi and Maden with him, both of whom he played with at ENCE. However, after joining the Falcons, his performance was not as impressive as it was in the 2023 season when he was ranked among the world’s best six players. For the year he managed a rather low average of 6.3, which was not what many expected from him.
In September, SunPayus was benched as part of the strategic change of the company. The team signed Olexander “s1mple” Kostyliev to help the team qualify for the Shanghai Major but Falcons could not make it to the event.
Rumors of a HEROIC Move
While one chapter of the game ends, the whispers have it that SunPayus may be heading to HEROIC in 2025. The potential move would see him team up with his former ENCE coach Eetu “sAw” Saha. Insiders suggest that the revamped HEROIC roster will also feature players such as Linus “nilo” Bergman, alongside a new trio from Sangal: Linus “LNZ” Holtang, Jasin “xfl0ud” Koc, and Simon “yxngstxr” Boyer. If these rumors are to be true, then it could be a new beginning for SunPayus as he aims to get back to his best.
Recalling SunPayus’ Time at Falcons
Despite the fact that SunPayus could not perform as he did before with Falcons, he was involved in several significant successes of the team. Some of the achievements include 3rd-4th positions at both BetBoom Dacha Belgrade 2024 and IEM Katowice 2024. But the overall season was not as good as expected and this resulted to massive changes within the roster.

As the new season approaches, Falcons are eager to start over and strengthen their team with new players. Regarding SunPayus, a transfer to HEROIC could help him to restore his faith and become one of the best snipers in the world again.
