Skyesports Introduces $245,000 CS:GO Franchised League in India with Eight Teams

Indian tournament organizer Skyesports has revealed the Skyesports Masters, a CS:GO franchised league featuring eight teams competing for a share of 20,000,000 INR (approximately $245,000).

The tournament, spanning three months, will culminate in a LAN event held in Mumbai, India, with a live audience.

The competition will begin with café qualifiers held in 20 Indian cities, including Mumbai, Delhi, and Chennai. Skyesports aims to revive CS:GO’s popularity in India and offer the eight participating organizations local talent to build their rosters. Established Indian players and international talent can also be selected by the teams, in addition to rising local players from the qualifiers.

Following the initial stage, the league will transition to the LAN phase, comprising the league stage and playoffs, played in front of a Mumbai crowd. Skyesports plans to provide several revenue streams for the organizations, including sponsorships, merchandise sales, and media rights deals, to reinvigorate the Indian CS:GO scene.

Skyesports CEO Shiva Nandy stated, “With our franchised system, we have found eight fantastic partners to be a part of the inaugural season of the league.”

The aim is not only to create a grand tournament for audiences but also to establish a sustainable esports ecosystem as many organizations face significant losses.

Details regarding the event schedule, partner teams, and café qualifier dates and locations will be announced soon through Skyesports’ social media channels.
