Silco’s Grand Return in TFT Set 9.5: Runeterra Reforged: Horizonbound

Silco’s Grand Return in TFT Set 9.5: Runeterra Reforged: Horizonbound

Riot Games has been building anticipation for the forthcoming Teamfight Tactics (TFT) Set 9.5, titled “Runeterra Reforged: Horizonbound”.

This week, starting from August 21st, they’ve been unveiling daily details about the update. Fans are eagerly awaiting the reintroduction of the formidable pirates from Bilgewater, along with the addition of new traits.

On August 22nd, Riot Games showcased the new 4-cost units for Horizonbound.

Among these units, the standout is undoubtedly Silco from Arcane, marking his significant comeback to TFT. Here’s a deeper dive into Silco’s role and the other 4-cost units in this update:

Back in February 2022, Riot Games introduced Silco as an exclusive unit in the Gizmos & Gadgets mid-set. Being a unique character not originating from the League of Legends universe, the TFT team had to craft him without any pre-existing abilities for reference. In the TFT 6.5 mid-set update, Silco was a premium five-cost Mastermind Scholar. His special ability provided health, increased attack speed, and crowd control immunity to his weakest ally for a short duration. However, this came with a catch: the buffed unit would eventually explode and perish once the effect concluded. In the upcoming 9.5 Horizonbound update, Silco has been repositioned as a 4-cost unit, with a revamped ability. He will now hurl Shimmer at an adversary, inflicting damage to them and their nearby allies. Allies within this contamination zone will receive healing.

Fiora is making her comeback to TFT after her previous appearance in the Gizmos & Gadgets set.

She will be joining Silco as another new 4-cost unit. Fiora’s ability allows her to elegantly navigate the battlefield, striking her foes while remaining untargetable and healing based on the damage she inflicts.

The Horizonbound update will also introduce other 4-cost units:

  • Nilah: Her attacks have an area of effect. She dives into the enemy with a protective shield and an enhanced attack speed.

  • Xayah: She can diminish her enemies’ armor with her sharp feathers. Xayah belongs to a new class, Vanquisher, which boosts critical strike chances against more robust adversaries.

  • Mordekaiser: He delivers slow but powerful blows, which intensify with each enemy he defeats.

As “Runeterra Reforged: Horizonbound” progresses, players will explore various regions of Runeterra.

Bilgewater and Ixtal are the two new regions unveiled so far. With a week filled with teasers, the gaming community is on the edge of their seats, anticipating more revelations about new units, traits, portals, and cosmetics. There’s also buzz about the potential addition of the Darkin, Naafiri, to TFT in this mid-set update.
