SAW Ends Partnership with Arki, NABOWOW Steps in as Temporary Coach

SAW has announced the departure of Omar “arki” Chakkor from the team, ending a collaboration that began in January 2020. Daniel “NABOWOW” Brito will assume the role of interim coach for the remainder of the season.

This marks the first time since 2018 that arki will not be competing alongside Ricardo “roman” Oliveira and Christopher “MUTiRiS” Fernandes. The three previously played together under the Giants banner before transitioning to SAW.

ImageDuring his nine-month tenure as coach, arki helped guide the Portuguese team to their highest-ever HLTV ranking at No. 20. Under his leadership, SAW achieved victories in several regional events, including the Elisa Invitational Fall 2022, ESL Challenger League Season 43 Europe, ESL Masters Spain Season 12 Finals, and Master League Portugal X Finals.

Ark’s move to coaching came in July 2022 after SAW announced major lineup changes following a loss to FTW in the domestic championship, Master League Portugal IX Finals. With arki as coach, SAW qualified for the Regional Major Ranking events for both the IEM Rio and BLAST Paris Majors but failed to qualify for the tournaments themselves.

SAW will make their debut with their new interim coach in the ESL Challenger League Season 45 Europe, where they are set to face the winner of the match between Into the Bin and HEET on April 19.

SAW’s current lineup is:
  • Christopher “MUTiRiS” Fernandes
  • Ricardo “roman” Oliveira
  • Tiago “JUST” Moura
  • João “story” Vieira
  • Michel “ewjerkz” Pinto

Temporary coach:

  • Daniel “NABOWOW” Brito
