Riot Games Reveals China as the Host Country of LoL Worlds 2025

The Return of LoL Worlds to China

The esports community was thrilled as Riot Games announced that the 2025 League of Legends World Championship (Worlds) will take place in China. This was done indirectly through Riot’s extension of their partnership with Chinese tech firm OPPO, who will remain the global presenting partner for the MVP awards at both Worlds and the Mid-Season Invitational.

In a recent blog post, Riot Games said, “For the past five years, OPPO has been involved in some of the most memorable moments in LoL Esports.” When we announced our partnership with OPPO for the next three years at the launch event of the OPPO Find X8 series in Chengdu, we were delighted to mark another achievement by unveiling China as the host of Worlds 2025.

A Familiar Home for Worlds After Five Years

The decision to bring Worlds back to China is not new as it has been hosted in Beijing in 2017 and Shanghai in 2020. The 2025 event will be held nearly five years after Worlds was held in China, which will allow fans to watch the tournament in one of the most enthusiastic countries for the sport.

The specific cities and locations of the stages have not been named, but expect to see some of the LPL (League of Legends Pro League) venues. More information is expected to be released soon, perhaps in conjunction with the 2023 Grand Final on November 2 at London’s O2 Arena.

China’s Recent Hosting and Upcoming Matches at Worlds 2023

This year, China proved that it can host international LoL tournaments by hosting the MSI in Chengdu. This recent event proved the region’s passion for esports and demonstrated its readiness for another historic Worlds in 2025.

Regarding the current 2023 Worlds, the battle is still on. Fans can expect some interesting games; WBG will face BLG on October 26, and T1 and Gen.G will play on October 27 at the adidas Arena in Paris. Tune in for more action and follow the path to the 2023 Grand Final!
