Riot Games Launches Revamped Riot Games Arena in Berlin to Elevate EMEA Esports

Riot Games, the powerhouse behind some of the most popular esports titles, has taken a monumental leap forward with the transformation of its Berlin-based LEC Studio into the cutting-edge Riot Games Arena.

This major overhaul is set to catapult Riot’s esports operations in the EMEA region to new heights as the 2024 season approaches.

The reimagined venue is not just a mere facelift; it represents a strategic pivot towards a more dynamic and versatile esports ecosystem. The Riot Games Arena is designed to be the epicenter for all current and future Riot Games esports endeavors in the region.

The arena boasts advanced broadcast and production capabilities, leveraging Riot Games’ Dublin-based Remote Broadcast Center.

This technical upgrade ensures a seamless and high-quality broadcast experience, essential in today’s digitally-driven esports landscape.

“On-site, we want to offer an experience that brings them into our worlds, immersing them more fully into Riot Games’ universes. With a large portion of our fan base watching from home, we also needed to put a lot of emphasis on the quality and diversity of our broadcast and production, to enhance their personal viewing experience,” – said Sarah Joynt Borger, Head of Media House for Riot Games EMEA.

Fans are in for a treat with the new amphitheater-style seating arrangement, which brings them closer to the heart of the action.

Riot’s forward-thinking approach is evident in the inclusion of dedicated broadcast and co-streaming booths. This enhancement acknowledges the growing influence of co-streaming in boosting esports viewership.

Alberto Guerrero, Head of Esports, EMEA at Riot Games, expressed enthusiasm about the project: “This upgraded, world-leading esports facility will become the beating heart of our esports operations in the region, servicing all our competitions.”

The Riot Games Arena is more than just a venue; it’s a symbol of Riot’s unwavering commitment to the future of esports in the EMEA region.

The facility is designed to host a variety of events, including the League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) and VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) EMEA shows, complete with live audiences. Additionally, it’s equipped to remotely manage other Riot Games EMEA Esports events like:

  • VALORANT Challengers Ascension
  • VALORANT EMEA Game Changers
  • EMEA Masters
  • Teamfight Tactics (TFT)

With more details to be unveiled at the start of 2024, the Riot Games Arena is poised to be a game-changer, reinforcing Riot’s position at the forefront of the esports industry.
