In a surprising move, Nicolo Laurent, the long-serving CEO of Riot Games, has decided to step down from his position to prioritize his family.
After over 14 years in leadership roles at the company, Laurent expressed that this decision was not made lightly and stems from the personal sacrifices he has made throughout his tenure. He also revealed plans to move back to France with his family.
Dylan Jadeja, who has been with Riot Games for more than a decade and served as the company’s president for over five years, will be taking over as the new CEO. The decision to appoint Jadeja was made unanimously by Riot’s Board, founders, advisors, and a search firm. Laurent emphasized that the succession planning process took three years and involved considering numerous exceptional candidates.
Jadeja, in his statement, expressed his intention to use the transition period to actively listen and reacquaint himself with different aspects of Riot. He particularly emphasized his desire to engage with the product side of the company and evaluate the progress made in recent years, while seeking opportunities for further improvement with the help of Riot’s dedicated community.
