To the surprise of many, Martin “Rekkles” Larsson, who played as the support and substitute for T1 Academy,
has left the famous Korean organization T1 before the beginning of the 2025 season.
Departure Due to Personal Issues
Rekkles announced his departure himself, posting a heartfelt message across his social media platforms.
The timing was unexpected, as T1 recently won the 2024 World Championship, with Rekkles playing as a substitute.
In his statement, he explained the rationale for this decision:
“When I got the offer from [T1 coach] Becker last year to join the LCK CL team, I wasn’t in a good place mentally,”
he wrote. “I had recently been diagnosed on the autism spectrum, and between a family accident and some tough years since leaving
Fnatic in 2020, I was struggling. To be honest, I was planning to sit out for the 2024 season.”
Initially, he was skeptical about joining T1, one of the most popular names in the League of Legends esports scene.
However, his personal issues persisted even after joining. He described it as merely “putting them on hold.”
“Now, I believe it’s time for me to address those challenges,” he continued, adding that returning to Sweden to be
close to his family felt essential for him.
A New Chapter: Rekkles Keeps on Playing from Home
Rekkles assured his fans that he is not done competing. He recently agreed to take a job that will allow him
to play professionally from home.
“I want to continue playing for as long as I am able, and I believe this change will enable that. It is important
to me right now,” he said, “longevity.”
Although he has not shared specific details about his next step, Rekkles expressed his gratitude toward T1 for his time with the team and living in Korea:
“I would like to thank my teammates, coaches, and all the people at T1 HQ for their support. It has been a privilege to be associated with the T1 badge.”
