The Polish Esports Association (Polski Związek Esportu) has announced its official membership in the Polish Olympic Committee. The Association was accepted as an ordinary member through a special resolution by the Polish Olympic Committee in late March, which will enable the continued development of esports in Poland.
Poland has long been at the forefront of esports in Europe, with esports already widely recognized as a sport in the country since 2017. By joining the Olympic Committee, the Association can now create tournaments, educational initiatives, and engage in grassroots initiatives with children and young people.
As a full member, the Polish Esports Association (ESA) will be able to exercise its electoral rights within the Olympic Committee, including submitting motions, participating in statutory activities, and collaborating with local governments and traditional sports associations.
The Polish Esports Association has actively supported the local scene for years, implementing esports education in over 50 schools and partnering with the International Esports Federation (IESF). The Association has also worked with the President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, on a national esports team project, which led to the Polish national team’s victory in the first-ever women’s CS:GO tournament at the 2022 World Esports Championship in Bali, Indonesia.
Andrzej Kraśnicki, President of the Polish Olympic Committee, expressed his satisfaction with the inclusion of esports, emphasizing its importance among young people and its role as an integral part of traditional sports.
