Platform Esports Bar Debuts Second London Location in Canary Wharf

UK-based gaming and esports bar chain Platform has officially inaugurated its second London venue in Canary Wharf. The Canary Wharf location is part of Platform’s broader expansion strategy, which includes opening another site in 2023 and additional venues in 2024 and 2025.

The Canary Wharf venue’s launch party took place on March 24th. According to a press release, the venue can accommodate approximately 250 guests. The 4,700-square-foot, two-floor space houses 24 console gaming booths and a bar. Platform initially announced its Canary Wharf expansion in February 2023.

Platform’s other London location in Shoreditch hosts various esports-related activities, including host parties, grassroots esports competitions, and Esports Insider’s 2022 Hall of Fame ceremony.

When the bar’s launch was first announced, Stuart Fyfe, Managing Director for Retail Leasing at Canary Wharf Group, remarked: “Platform is an exciting addition to Canary Wharf, building on our already strong competitive socialising offerings such as Fairgame, Electric Shuffle, and Capital Karts. Situated next to the busy, newly opened Elizabeth line, I look forward to seeing the unique gaming experience this venue brings to the area.”

Over the past few years, grassroots esports-focused venues and bars have gained popularity as the UK continues to embrace esports. London is home to several other gaming and esports bars, including Four Quarters, New Meta Gaming Arena, and Loading Bar. In addition to Platform’s Canary Wharf location, a new venue called Level Tap is scheduled to open in the Liverpool ONE shopping complex.
