PGL Wallachia S2: Falcons is the first Grand Finalist after HEROIC’s defeat

The PGL Wallachia Season 2 has been full of unexpected moments, but few people expected an Upper Bracket Finals match between Heroic and Team Falcons. The South American squad, which had a new carry player, David “Parker” Nicho, had never achieved such a result in the past. On the other hand, Team Falcons have also struggled through the season but are now back on track after a very tumultuous year.

While some Falcons came into the tournament with low expectations, they are showing that they are still among the best. Many people questioned their capability to compete at the highest level after they placed third at the Riyadh Masters 2024 and fourth at The International 13. Despite some internal drama and controversy around Ammar “ATF” Al-Assaf, the all-star roster was able to get back on track and qualified for the Upper Bracket Finals.

Game 1: Falcons Take Over After Mid-Game Charge

In the first match of the series, Team Falcons decided to rely on the tried and tested strategy based on their Nature’s Prophet choice. Ironically, Heroic let the Prophet through the draft, an action that would come back to bite them in the future. Falcons did exactly what they were supposed to do: they played a slow and conservative early game in the lanes before increasing the pressure and moving across the map to shut down Heroic at every chance they got.

The game started spiraling out of control for Heroic as Ammar’s Doom started rolling on the gold advantage that was accumulated throughout the mid-game. Despite Parker’s strategic item picks and a good fight, Heroic had no way to deal with Falcons’ control, and the MENA team emerged victorious.

Game 2: Parker Turns the Tide

The audience on Twitch was eager to see a clean 2-0 sweep after the Falcons’ domination in the first game. The situation appeared to be increasingly in favor of Falcons, with a snowballing draft designed to capitalize on Heroic’s errors. Early rotations were beneficial for Falcons, and both Analog and Parker were not at their best as their net worth decreased during the first few turns.

But Parker had other ideas. When Heroic lost the first Roshan, the situation seemed pretty dire, but Parker came through in the clutch. In a very risky and aggressive move, he lured Team Falcons to go all out with his teleport and secured a huge comeback. A critical teamfight saw Heroic take down Falcons, with Parker’s Monkey King able to avoid the ultimate hit and counter.

From that moment, Heroic took over, gradually eliminating Falcons’ map presence and winning the series in Game 3 in spectacular fashion.

Game 3: Divine Rapier, But Not Divine Enough

When the series reached an equal score, the drafting stage turned into a battle of wits. Heroic adjusted by banning out Nature’s Prophet, while Falcons countered with a Razor ban. Both sides got some of their own stars—Parker on Muerta and Ammar on the unyielding Bristleback. One of the unexpected picks in the draft was an offlane Pangolier from Heroic, which really caught everyone off guard.

The third and final game was very close, with both teams unwilling to back down. However, as the match went on, Team Falcons realized how to penetrate through Heroic’s defenses. Even though Parker was able to obtain the Aegis of the Immortal, Heroic was unable to deal with the constant damage that Skiter’s Razor was putting out through his Static Link, which disabled Parker’s damage in a critical fight.

Having a net worth lead and better map vision, Falcons took multiple Roshans and started their systematic push for high ground. A decisive pick-off on Parker’s Muerta allowed Falcons to take important objectives. A mistake by Davai Lama was fatal, and Falcons went on the attack, seeking the winning goal.
