PGL Announces RMR Major Qualifier Locations for CS2 Copenhagen Major

PGL, a renowned tournament organizer in the world of esports, has recently announced the locations for the upcoming Regional Major Ranking (RMR) events.

These events are crucial qualifiers for the much-anticipated PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen. Set to take place in February and March, these RMR events will unfold across Romania, Mexico, and China, signaling an exciting phase in the lead-up to the Major.

  • European RMR: Bucharest 

Kicking off the RMR series, Bucharest, the capital city of Romania and PGL’s home base, will host the European RMR. From February 14-24, 32 teams will compete in a dual Swiss group format, culminating in a last-chance bracket to secure their spot in the Major.

  • Asian RMR: Shanghai

Following the European event, the Asian RMR will take place in Shanghai, China, from February 26-28. This segment will feature eight teams vying for their chance to advance to the Copenhagen stage.

  • Americas RMR: Monterrey

The Americas RMR, set to be held in Monterrey, Mexico, from March 1-4, will see 16 teams competing in intense matchups, each aiming for a spot in the Major.

The Road to Copenhagen

These RMR events are pivotal in determining the 24 teams that will participate in the PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen, scheduled for March 17-31. Europe, following its performance at the BLAST.tv Paris Major, will have 17 spots. The Americas and Asia are allocated five and two spots, respectively.

Direct Invitations and Open Qualifiers

Teams that secured a top 16 finish at the BLAST.tv Paris Major will receive direct invitations to the RMR events. Additional slots will be filled via two-stage online qualifiers, starting with open qualifiers beginning January 8. These qualifiers offer a vital opportunity for aspiring teams to showcase their skills and earn a place in the RMR events.

The open qualifiers, organized via Challengermode, are set as follows:

  • Europe Open Qualifiers: January 8, 10, 12, 14
  • Americas Open Qualifiers:
    • North America – January 8, 10;
    • South America – January 8, 10
  • Asia Open Qualifiers:
    • South Africa, Rest of Middle East, GCC – January 8;
    • Oceania – January 13;
    • East Asia – January 15;
    • Rest of Asia – January 17
