Days after Dota 2 icon Ceb urged fans to trust in him and the Old G roster, the talented team convincingly secured a spot in the Dota Pro Circuit’s second division, following their impressive performance in the DPC WEU 2023 Tour closed qualifiers. Although this is just the start of their journey, and they are beginning from the lowest level, mid lane expert Topson declared that the battle is underway.
In the most favorable scenario, Old G could rise from Division Two to Division One at the expense of Topson’s former team, OG, which seems likely to be relegated to Division Two. If Old G manages to advance to Division One and performs well, they could qualify for The International 2023 based on points, avoiding any conflict of interest. Topson commented, “That’s kind of the goal.”
He acknowledges, however, that they would need to “literally win everything” to accumulate enough points. Topson realizes that the most probable path to TI12 will involve competing in the qualifiers, and the team is prepared for that challenge.
“Realistically, we are playing the TI qualifiers. Most likely, we are just going to end up playing the qualifiers. But we will see how it goes.”
Old G’s Division Two campaign begins on Wednesday, April 5, and concludes on Tuesday, April 25. The competition will be stiff, with renowned teams like Team Secret and Alliance participating, even though their recent form has been underwhelming.
If Old G can secure a top position by the end of April, they will advance to Division One, replace OG, and position themselves optimally considering their starting point.
