Monte Reveals Updated 2025 Lineup

Monte has revealed its lineup for the 2025 competitive year and has made major changes to the organization’s structure while switching back to English as the primary language of communication. Two young and promising players Jack “Gizmy” von Spreckelsen and Gytis “ryu” Glušauskas have been promoted from the Monte Gen Academy to the main roster of the team.

These roster updates involve the duo replacing Polish players Szymon “kRaSnaL” Mrozek and Kamil “KEi” Pietkun, which means the end of Monte’s experiment with Polish-speaking players. Also, Ivan “AiyvaN” Semenets, who graduated from the academy, becomes the head coach of the team, replacing Piotr “nawrot” Navrotsky.

One of the most memorable decisions is the choice of a 20-year-old Gizmy as the team captain. He replaces Olek “hades” Miskiewicz who took the leadership position, which means that the team is returning to a more traditional approach to gameplay. Gizmy and ryu are not unfamiliar with the main roster as Monte was able to secure a playoff spot in ESL Pro League Season 19 after roster changes that included Alexander “br0” Breaux and Viktor “sdy” Orudzhev.

The changes come after a difficult 2024 campaign for Monte. Despite the achievements of the Monte Gen Academy, which included the victory in the HEROIC x Thunderpick Path To The Pros tournament and several C-Tier playoffs, the number of invitations to the top tournaments was low.

Reflecting on his new role, coach AiyvaN expressed excitement about the journey ahead:

“My favorite project was Monte Gen. However, we have obtained considerable outcomes, especially in the last few months, when we began to rise up the ranks. Now, a new chapter starts for me, and I am glad to become a part of the main roster.”

The decision to go back to English is expected to improve the team cohesiveness and make the environment more stable for growth. Monte has a new generation of players and a young and aspiring captain who will be expected to prove the team’s worth in the next year’s world cup tournament.
