Underdog team Monte is one step away from securing a spot in the BLAST Paris Major, thanks to the remarkable performance of Mohammad “BOROS” Malhas at the RMR. BOROS led the team to a 16-9 victory over Cloud9 on Mirage and was instrumental in their 16-11 triumph against ENCE in the first game.
Monte has made significant progress in the tier-two scene in 2023, winning four online tournaments this year, including ESL Challenger League, European Pro League, CCT West Europe Series 2, and CCT Central Europe Series 5. The team’s victories against top 10-ranked Cloud9 and ENCE demonstrate that Monte has successfully transitioned its online form to LAN events. However, the team, led by Viktor “sdy” Orudzhev, will only compete in BO3s from now on.
With Heroic as the only other team in the 2-0 pool, Monte’s majority-Ukrainian lineup will prepare for a qualification series, although their opponent remains to be determined. The recent upsets against Cloud9 and ENCE have shown that Monte is a force to be reckoned with, and fans eagerly await the team’s performance in the upcoming matches.
