LoL Worlds 2024 Swiss Stage: Format, Draw, and Everything You Need to Know

Worlds 2024 Swiss Stage – Overview

The League of Legends World Championship 2024 moves to the Swiss stage where the 16 best teams will be competing in a new format. This year, the group stage is not present anymore, and instead, teams can meet any other team depending on their results in the previous round.

Although this change in format eliminates the ‘groups of death’, it offers the chance for fascinating regional derbies and thrilling cross-continental encounters as the initial seeds only affect the first draw. This means that in each round the teams will be matched against teams with the same standing which will make the games very interesting.

Each team will be able to play five matches and they will be grouped in sets depending on their win/loss record. A team with two wins will move to the Qualification matches which are best of three (Bo3) to qualify to the Knockout stage (top 8). On the other hand, teams with two losses play in elimination Bo3 matches in order to stay alive. The Swiss stage will consist of 20 Bo1 games and 13 Bo3 series to keep the pace fast and the competition intense.
