A Preview of Patch 14.24 and the Future
As you know, LoL Patch 14.24 is the last patch of the 14th season of League of Legends. This is the last patch of the year and it is all about polishing the current meta and preparing for the new one. After the changes made in Patch 14.23, where Riot weakened the most played champions and strengthened the less played ones, Riot continues to make small but significant changes.
Of course, the changes in Patch 14.24 are quite significant, but the focus is on the massive overhaul Riot has planned for 2025. Expect large changes, including seasonal themes and a single ranked reset at the beginning of the year, indicating a new course for competitive gameplay. Further information about these interesting changes will be revealed in the following months, but the patch gives players a glimpse of new mechanics that will be introduced in Season 15, such as the new Teleport mechanics.
When is Patch 14.24 going to be released?
Mark your calendars! Patch 14.24 is expected to be released on live servers on Wednesday, December 11, according to Riot’s patch schedule. This is the last patch of 2024, which has been an exciting year for the game and its fans, as well as the preparation for the start of the new season 15.
What Will Patch 14.24 Bring to the Meta?
This patch is all about rebalancing some of the most popular champions in solo queue while adapting to the current meta. Key highlights include:
- Graves, Elise, and Corki: These champions have been ruling the ladder with their high win percentages. Riot wants to bring them back to check with specific nerfs so that the pool of options is not skewed.
- Ambessa: The top-lane powerhouse is also being toned down, with Riot going out of their way to state that they are lowering her top-end power.
- Viktor Rework: Perhaps the most exciting one, Viktor’s rework will bring changes to both solo queue and professional play, making her a champion to look forward to in the following weeks.
Looking Ahead to Season 15
Although Patch 14.24 is all about refining what is already on the table, it also teases the radical changes Riot has in store for 2025. It is for this reason that fans have a lot to look forward to with changes such as a new ranked system and seasonal themes. However, before players can jump into the new season, they can enjoy this refined final build of the Season 14 meta.
