Three Splits for a Thriving Competition

From 2025, the competitive calendar will consist of three splits, which will increase the frequency of play in ERLs and EMEA Masters. This adjustment gives players more chances to demonstrate themselves and is beneficial for the scene’s activity during the year. The new format reflects Riot’s recent efforts to enhance the connection between regional leagues and the international competitive scene.

Tournament organizers will now have more opportunities to change the formats to be more suitable for their regions. This customization enables leagues to meet the needs of their audiences and create a closer relationship between the fans and the local esports scene.

EMEA Masters Enlarges to Three Conferences

In conjunction with the ERL changes, EMEA Masters will now be held three times a year, aligning with the global LoL schedule, which will feature three international events. Every split of the EMEA Masters will have different formats, making the competition more interesting for players and spectators. Riot has said that it will reveal more information about the format and duration of these events in the coming months.

This change makes the EMEA Masters more aligned with the rest of the world’s schedule, underlining the role of the region as a breeding ground for future talent in the professional LoL scene.

Fearless Draft Enters Tier Two Leagues

Among the most anticipated changes for 2025 is the arrival of Fearless Draft to the tier-two level, which will be launched during the Winter Split. Currently implemented in tier-one competitions, Fearless Draft promotes innovative play and varied champion selections by adding restrictions concerning drafts based on prior games. This will make the games more interesting and the matchups more exciting, adding an extra element of strategy.

Besides these drafting changes, the new update of the in-game map will be released in the 2025 season to bring new experiences to players.
