Cloud9 Signs Loki as Starting Mid Laner for 2025
One of the biggest rumors of the offseason is that Cloud9 is going to sign another Korean player. Loki is said to have agreed verbally to join Sheep Esports as the team’s starting mid laner for the 2025 season, as reported by Sheep Esports. This signing comes after C9’s former mid laner, jojopyun, left the team to join MDK in the LEC.
Cloud9 has always been known for scouting the best talent from Korea, and previous imports like EMEN3s, Berserker, and Thanatos have been quite impactful. Once again, C9 has looked at the LCK Challengers scene, this time considering Loki from Hanwha Life Esports (HLE) Challengers. C9 was also said to be in discussion with Dplus KIA Challengers’ mid laner Kang “Saint” Sung-in but signed Loki instead.
Cloud9’s Rebuild After a Challenging 2024 Campaign
The 2024 season was not a great year for Cloud9 as the team did not qualify for the Worlds even though they had a very strong roster on paper in NA. Their dreams were cut short by a shocking defeat to 100Thieves in the LCS Championship, which led to a massive overhaul at C9.
ADC player Berserker decided to leave Cloud9 after three years, and C9 veteran Zven returned to the AD position in 2025. The mid lane vacancy, left by jojopyun, will now be filled by Loki. This new lineup will consist of:
- Loki as the new mid laner
- Thanatos as the new starting top laner
- Blaber as the new jungler
- Zven as the new ADC
- Vulcan as the new support
This comes after a disappointing 2024 season.
Loki’s Path to Cloud9
Loki has been growing his career from the time he started competing in 2022. He began with HLE Academy and moved to HLE Challengers in 2023. His 2024 season saw him start for HLE Challengers, and the team ended the season in fourth place in the Spring Split and sixth in Summer. Now, with his transfer to Cloud9, Loki will be entering one of the largest stages in the world as he prepares to face the LCS.
