While the DreamLeague Season 19 Dota 2 tournament has been delighting fans with action-packed matches, an unexpected star has emerged: the live band in the studio. Despite initial doubts, the band’s musical talent and range have captured viewers’ attention and admiration.
The band has been winning over the Dota 2 community throughout the tournament by performing diverse tunes, from metal to reggae. Panelists Jorien “Sheever” van der Heijden, Mira “Ephey” Riad, and Andrew Jenkins put the band to the test by requesting random songs from different genres. After successfully tackling reggae and metal, the band was challenged to perform reggae-metal, a niche sub-genre unfamiliar to many fans. Undaunted, the musicians delivered an impressive performance that won over both viewers and panelists.
As DreamLeague Season 19 continued, more fans fell for the live band, with some even requesting their presence at the Berlin Major. Sheever revealed that the panel assigns the band a new name every day, with “Underpaid Pandas” being the moniker on the day of the Twitch clip. Though the trio does not have an official name, individual members Thomas Cochrane, Jens Wierckx, and Bob Barlag can be found on social media.
The combination of player showmanship and the outstanding live band has made DreamLeague Season 19 a refreshing experience for DPC enthusiasts.
