Renowned Roblox creator Forrest Waldron, popularly known as Kreekcraft, has partnered with North American esports and gaming organization Misfits Gaming to establish a new Roblox game studio called Pixel Playground. Waldron will serve as Creative Director and Co-founder, while Misfits’ recent co-owner Karl Jacobs will also join as Co-founder.
Kreekcraft, an American streamer and content creator, is best known for his Roblox-focused videos and boasts over 7 million YouTube subscribers. Karl Jacobs, a content creator, gained fame through his collaborations with YouTuber MrBeast.
Pixel Playground will be spearheaded by Waldron and Jacobs, with Misfits offering operational support, resources, and tools necessary to reach large audiences. Misfits Gaming Group has granted the duo full creative control over the studio’s direction. Pixel Playground aims to develop games within Roblox targeted at younger players, drawing inspiration from game designs and modes created for older audiences.
“This is just the beginning. Our ultimate goal is to take Roblox to the next level. To do things nobody has ever done before in this space. We have so many ambitious ideas and projects in the works. It’s going to be a great year.” – wrote Kreekcraft on Twitter.
Following recent changes to Roblox’s advertising rules, Misfits anticipates that Pixel Playground’s games will attract both advertisers and audiences. The project is the latest addition to the Misfits Creator Fund, a multi-million dollar initiative launched by the esports and gaming organization in November 2022.
Misfits Gaming Group CEO and Founder Ben Spoont expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating that they aim to “unlock [Waldron and Jacobs’] creative potential” and utilize Pixel Playground’s development team to create innovative gaming experiences for Roblox.
