The most notable changes in this patch are the ones made to the agent Killjoy.
As one of the most played sentinel agents in professional play, the developers wanted to improve how her abilities interact with other players or the environment. As a result, several changes were made to her abilities and audio cues.
Firstly, Riot Games has increased the reveal radius of Killjoy’s Nanoswarm (C) from 350 to 525. This will better match the area of damage and make it more realistic for enemies that are moving methodically to track them down. The audio for Nanoswarm has also been updated, and the audio loop will now turn off when disabled as a result of Killjoy being killed or suppressed. Additionally, improved feedback for the enemy when they destroy Nanoswarm has been implemented, and the ability is now revealed when it is disabled.
Riot has also done a pass on some of Killjoy’s audio cues to make them more distinct and make it clearer when her utility has been destroyed. Furthermore, the yellow warning indicator that was added to Lockdown (X) in the last patch has been removed, as it was too noisy on screen for the full duration of her ultimate winding up.
Other abilities have also received updates in this patch.
The visuals for Killjoy’s ultimate, Lockdown (X), being destroyed have been updated. The yellow warning UI Indicator for enemies Killjoy’s Lockdown (X) has also been removed. Additionally, the deactivate sounds for Killjoy’s Turret (E) and Alarmbot (Q) have been updated to make them more distinct.
In terms of map updates, the newly updated Bind will rotate into Competitive and Unrated queues, while Icebox will rotate out of Competitive and Unrated queues. The developers have also fixed several bugs in this patch, including issues with the “Kick ally off” display while defusing the Spike, the Spike progress bar for planting or defusing speeding up or resetting while defusing, and Yoru not being able to drop his weapon while using Dimensional Drift (X).
Cosmetic updates have also been made in this patch.
Riot Games has upgraded several Shorty models, including the default Shorty, to get them up to par visually with the rest of their weapons. These are just art updates, with no gameplay changes.
Overall, Patch 6.08 brings several important changes and improvements to VALORANT, particularly with regards to Killjoy. The developers are always looking to make the game better and more balanced, and players can expect more updates in the future as the game continues to evolve.
