Global Esports Bolsters Team with Edgar Chekera as Sports Psychologist for VCT Pacific League

In a significant move for the competitive world of Valorant, Edgar Chekera, the renowned former performance coach for top esports entities like Guild, Excel, Fnatic, and Man City esports, has officially joined the ranks of Global Esports.

His role as a sports psychologist is set to bring a new dimension to the team, currently making waves in the VCT Pacific League.

Chekera, not to be confused with the Global Esports Federation, brings his extensive experience in UK esports to the Indian organization. His career highlights include impactful stints with Fnatic, Excel Esports (now GiantX), and the City Football Group, culminating in a recent tenure at Guild Esports. At Guild, he made a mark as the first performance manager, a role he left just last week.

His expertise extends beyond team settings, as the founder of Psych-Chek, a performance agency offering a wide range of services including consultancy and workshops. On joining Global Esports, Chekera expressed his enthusiasm, “I’m excited and happy to be back in VCT and have a bunch of great people to work with.”

Global Esports, home to UK talents like player Russ, assistant coach BigTime, and head coach Spin, boasts a diverse Valorant player roster. This includes Lightningfast (India), Benkai (Poland), Russ (UK), blaZek1ng (Poland), polvi (Finland), and sub skillZ (India). Chekera’s role will be pivotal in enhancing the team’s mental fortitude, as he aims to “make sure that the guys become the best version of themselves, and feel mentally ready.”

Recently, the team showcased their skills at the Valorant Convergence off-season event in Bangalore, India, although their journey was cut short in Group A. Besides Valorant, Global Esports competes in other prominent titles like Fortnite, Counter-Strike, and Dota 2, indicating a versatile and ambitious approach to the esports arena.

As Global Esports gears up for future challenges, the addition of Edgar Chekera is a clear statement of their commitment to excellence, not just in gaming strategy, but also in mental preparedness and team dynamics.

The VCT Pacific League, featuring teams like Gen.G, T1, and Paper Rex, is set to witness the enhanced capabilities of a team boosted by a seasoned sports psychologist. The esports community eagerly anticipates the impact Chekera will have on Global Esports and their performance in upcoming events.
