Spanish esports organization Giants Gaming has announced the launch of the Giants Innovation Hub in Málaga, Spain, aiming to foster innovative technology projects related to gaming and esports to build the future of the internet. Giants’ owners, Virginia Calvo and José Ramón Díaz, will play significant roles in the project, which also involves stakeholders like Tomás Gasset, Álvaro Villacorta, and Urbania founder and CEO, Álvaro Villacorta.
The Giants Innovation Hub consists of three programs: Giants Esports Lab, Giants Media 4 Equity, and Giants Venture Capital. Giants Esports Lab targets entrepreneurs in areas such as software, hardware, AI, data, analytics, and fan experience. The program will offer startups the expertise of a professional esports organization.
Giants Media 4 Equity provides startups with digital media assets and support from the Giants ecosystem in exchange for equity. Partnered companies gain access to Giants’ audience and network, with the organization offering an average contribution of around €250,000 (~£220,000) to startups.
Giants Venture Capital, or Giants VC Fund I, FCRE, will invest in startups focused on innovative and transformative projects in blockchain, web3, metaverse, and gaming. The fund is expected to reach €50m (~£44m) to allocate to up to 40 startups, providing investments ranging from €100,000 (~£88,000) to €3m (~2.6m) each.
Entrepreneurs from all over Europe can apply to join any of the programs. Giants Gaming is a leading esports brand in Spain and a partner of Riot Games’ VALORANT Champions Tour in the EMEA region. The organization maintains a VALORANT roster, a Spanish League of Legends team, and teams in four fighting-game titles, highlighting its focus on the FGC.
