Esports organization GenOne has parted ways with its Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) roster after a disappointing start to 2023.
The team, which had included Christophe “SIXER” Xia, a former WESG World Finals champion, had struggled to achieve positive results this year.
In a statement, GenOne’s CEO Sebastien “KRL” Perez said the organization would now focus its attention on its academy team. Although he did not rule out the possibility of picking up another roster in the future.
GenOne had a successful year in 2022, winning several regional competitions, including La Coupe 3 Paris and NumberOne Season 3. The team reached a peak ranking of No. 66 in the world and earned $175,000 by winning the WhiteBIT Community Clash.
However, their performance has declined significantly in 2023, with the team winning just six of the sixteen HLTV-recorded matches they played, including a 2-3 record in ESEA Advanced. These losses came against teams like SHIPACHI and HYDRA, not the best teams in the division. As a result, the team dropped out of the top 100 in the world rankings.
It is uncertain whether the former GenOne roster will stick together and search for a new home. However, player Jérémy “jeyN” Nguyen announced in a Twitlonger post that he was leaving the team after their departure from GenOne.
GenOne’s former CS:GO roster includes:
- Noé “NeOo” Guenego
- Christophe “SIXER” Xia
- Jérémy “jeyN” Nguyen
- Damien “wasiNk” Dufour
