Former LoL MMO Leader Launches New Studio Following Departure from Riot Games

Greg “Ghostcrawler” Street, the former executive producer of Riot Games’ MMO, has disclosed further details about his decision to leave the company last month. Street has relocated to be closer to his family and has established his own gaming studio, with a focus on creating an MMO or a similar project.

In a recent Twitter post, Ghostcrawler shared his ambitions: “Our goal is to move fast and go big. Fortunately, I have found a great strategic partner aligned with this vision, and we are moving forward. And yes it will be an MMO or something very MMO-like!”

Ghostcrawler was a prominent figure in the development of Riot’s forthcoming MMO, which has been in the works for several years. Prior to joining the League of Legends team, where he contributed to projects such as Arcane, Realms of Runeterra, and K/DA, he served as a system designer for World of Warcraft for five years.

Players awaiting the release of the upcoming MMO game expressed concern about his departure, speculating about potential internal issues affecting the game’s progress.

The impact of Ghostcrawler’s exit on the development timeline and release window for Riot’s MMO remains uncertain. Currently, the game is slated for a launch between late 2024 and 2025.

Though Ghostcrawler has not yet divulged any additional information about his new venture, he mentioned that he is actively recruiting “leaders with serious industry experience.” More updates on the situation are expected to emerge in the coming months.
