The Australian roster proved the skeptics wrong by defeating the favourites BIG in the ESL Challenger Atlanta 2024 Grand Final. This win not only gives FlyQuest a $50,000 prize but also a seed at ESL Pro League Season 21 next year, which is a massive achievement for the team.
FlyQuest Named Champions After a Strenuous Three-Map Fight
The journey to the championship was not easy for FlyQuest. The Grand Final took place on three maps, and the team demonstrated endurance and determination to become the ESL Challenger Atlanta 2024 winner. FlyQuest won the first map Ancient but lost a close match in Vertigo after a nail-biting overtime and thus the final map Dust2.
The decider map was a close one and at the half, FlyQuest led BIG 9-3 but BIG was not going to give up easily. The German squad came back strongly and put the Australians on the back foot. Nevertheless, FlyQuest was able to maintain the early lead and won the series 13-9. It was not a perfect win by any stretch of the imagination, but for a team that was in pursuit of their first ever CS2 title (besides dexter), it was plenty. Well done to FlyQuest on their well deserved victory!
aliStair Shuts His Critics Up with His Impressive Show
Going into the event, FlyQuest’s AWPer, aliStair, was in the hot seat. His recent form had been a cause for concern and many people had directed their fingers at his poor statistics. But ESL Challenger Atlanta 2024 was the event where he stepped up to the occasion and performed some of the best matches of his career.
The Dust2 decider was a perfect example of aliStair’s skills as he pulled off clutch after clutch to ensure FlyQuest’s victory. His spectacular goals and composure in front of the goal line played a big role in defeating a strong BIG team. This was a version of aliStair the Tier 1 scene hadn’t seen yet, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. If he maintains this level of play, FlyQuest may well be on the cusp of competing at the highest level of CS2 events in the near future. The community will be watching closely!
