In a thrilling three-map series, FaZe has advanced to the ESL Pro League Season 17 grand final, defeating Natus Vincere. Despite a shaky start as NAVI crushed them on Ancient (16-7), FaZe regained their footing on Nuke (16-8) and concluded the series with a solid performance on Mirage (16-9).
NAVI has triumphed over FaZe in their last three encounters, with Sergey “Ax1Le” Rykhtorov’s impressive rifle skills often propelling them to victory. This time, however, there is an additional incentive at stake: a $100,000 bonus for ruining FaZe’s chances in the grand final.
Following their 3-4th place finish at Pro League, Natus Vincere now matches their IEM Katowice result. Despite not being considered a top contender for EPL, the team has struggled to regain their former dominance, with Andrii “npl” Kukharskyi’s addition not yet proving fruitful. Nonetheless, the team showed improvement in Malta and will look to carry this momentum into the BLAST.tv Paris Major Europe RMR, starting on April 6.
The series opened on Natus Vincere’s Ancient pick, with NAVI dominating the first half. FaZe managed to recover a few rounds but could not overcome the deficit, losing 16-7. On Nuke, FaZe took an early lead and maintained control throughout the map, securing a 16-8 victory. Mirage saw FaZe continue their dominance, with a 16-9 win to clinch the series.
