The ESL Pro League Season 20 is now well into its final stages, and the Quarter-Finals have now been played. Four teams are left as they fight for a chance to play in the Grand Final after several fierce fights on the server. Now it is time to discuss all the action and analyze the ESL Pro League Season 20 Quarter-Finals.
MIBR Dismantle M80’s Momentum
MIBR and M80 were two teams that few people thought would be in the Quarter-Finals, but they were set to face off in a South vs. North America match. Both teams were surprise entrants and both teams qualified for the spot, but when it came to the clash, MIBR was a class above the North American team, sweeping them 2-0. The scorelines of 13-10 and 13-8 were more or less a facade for M80 who only had moments of individual brilliance to keep them going.
The victory was powered by saffee who had a series of 43-19 while on the first map he had a whopping 30-8. With such numbers, it was always going to be a struggle for M80 to turn things around. On the other side, M80’s rising star Lake had a low profile; he was not at his best and could hardly play his usual style. However, this young team is still quite entertaining, and one can only expect them to bounce back in the following months.
Eternal Fire Stun Vitality
Eternal Fire and Vitality gave the most unexpected match of ESL Pro League Season 20. On paper, Vitality was expected to sail through to the Grand Final, but Eternal Fire upset the script with a 2-1 win. This was a turning point for the Turkish side, which has been improving after a rather poor beginning of the year.
The series was dominated by XANTARES and woxic who got more than 70 frags each and led Eternal Fire to victory. None of their players reached 60 kills, which just goes to show how much the two veterans had to carry the load. XANTARES, who was always underestimated, again showed that he is one of the scene’s best players, especially on a major stage.
NAVI Overwhelm Team Spirit
The match between NAVI and Spirit was expected to be the highlight of the Quarter-Finals but what happened was NAVI dominated the match and won 2-0. NAVI’s dominance proved once again why they are considered one of the favorites for the title of the best CS2 team in the world. But Spirit failed to deliver the same result; the team was not at their best after the initial rounds of the competition.
The series also brought out the difference in the quality of players in the two teams. Spirit’s young talent donk was completely useless, on the other hand, jL of NAVI showcased his skills with multiple flashy plays. Spirit’s sh1ro had a good game on his own but that was not enough to help his team advance, leading to Spirit’s elimination from yet another CS2 tournament.
G2 Triumph Over Team Liquid in Epic Series
G2 and Team Liquid put on the show of the Quarter-Finals, providing fans with a thrilling 2-1 fight. G2 won the map picks from the opponents before they outclassed Nuke with a 13-3 scoreline in the final map. Every map was a fight in itself and if you didn’t get to watch this one, it is recommended that you watch the VODs before the Semi-Finals.
