DSG Unveils Star-Studded Valorant Game Changers Lineup

A few weeks ago, Jeremy “Disguised Toast” Wang expressed interest in recruiting a pro player to establish a Valorant team. After searching for a Game Changers (GC) pro, Disguised Toast has now revealed his second professional Valorant team. This lineup will compete in the Valorant Game Changers Open Qualifiers, set to begin on April 4th. Disguised’s team, known as DSG, features well-known players from the Valorant scene. Following the announcement, Disguised Toast also addressed some of the backlash the team received.

DSG’s Valorant Game Changers lineup boasts notable content creators and professional players. The team members were seen practicing together earlier in the week, and on March 28th, Team DSG unveiled its Game Changers roster.

The lineup includes Jodi “QuarterJade” Lee, Kyedae “kyedae” Shymko, Sydney “Sydeon” Parker, Tenzin “TrulyTenzin” Dolkar, and in-game leader and former Immortals pro player Lydia “tupperware” Wilson. The team’s coach is former CS: GO player and Valorant coach Corey “ruin” Hartog. The team stated, “They’ll be streaming their scrims and practice throughout the week! Open Qualifiers starts April 4th!”

In response to the backlash surrounding the team’s announcement, Disguised Toast addressed concerns about the impact of a team featuring four content creators and one established pro player on the Game Changers scene.
One GC player, Irene aka jellyfish, expressed her dissatisfaction on Twitter, stating that the team’s presence in the scene is “disrespectful” and questioned whether it would benefit the GC scene.

“As someone who competes in gamechangers primarily and cares about the growth of the scene and its players, it feels disrespectful that dsg originally asks for actual players to build a roster for gamechangers and then builds a team w 4 very popular streamers,” – wrote jellyfish on Twitter.

On March 16th, Toast had tweeted that he was looking for just one GC pro. He later explained that he wanted to do more research about the scene before committing $300,000 USD, stating that he hoped the additional attention would demonstrate a demand for Valorant content.

Disguised Toast emphasized that all team members are taking the event seriously and meet Riot Games’ criteria. He also revealed that he was transparent with pros tupperware and ruin about his intentions for the Game Changers roster.

The Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) Game Changers is a program designed to provide opportunities and exposure for women and other marginalized genders in Valorant esports. The 2023 North American (NA) Valorant Game Changers kicks off with Game Changers Series I, with Open Qualifiers running from April 4th to 6th and the main event starting on April 11th and concluding on April 14th.
