In a dramatic twist, the esports team DRILLAS owned by skin collector and trader Ohnepixel has qualified for the Asia Regional Major Ranking (RMR) for the Shanghai Major. Although DRILLAS lost to JiJieHao in the first round, Volodymyr “Woro2k” Veletniuk and his team fought their way through the lower bracket to qualify for the exciting RMR event. The team is now preparing for the trip to China where they will be fighting for a chance to be in the Major.
“Get Ready to Learn Chinese!” – Ohnepixel Congratulates DRILLAS
A happy Ohnepixel expressed his joy during a live stream on Twitch as the team went through the qualifiers. Even for a relatively small regional qualifier, Ohnepixel’s streams were consistently higher than for even Tier 1 events such as the BetBoom Dacha. His team was full of talented players and they did not disappoint when it was time to shine and people were amazed by their performance.
DRILLAS CS2 Roster:
- Volodymyr “Woro2k” Veletniuk
- Ali “hAdji” Haïnouss
- Vladyslav “Kvem” Korol
- Tal “meztal” Hahiashvili
- Meytar “AMSALEM” Amsalem
- Ohnepixel (Coach)
During the event, the Ukrainian team consisting of Woro2k and Vladyslav “Kvem” Korol were in excellent form, rating 1.45 and 1.31 respectively. The rest of the team was not far behind, keeping an average rating of 1.28 across the board even against tough opponents such as Jayson ‘Kyojin’ Nguyen Van from Supferfkrs.
DRILLAS’ Road to the RMR
Because of Salic “Hadji” Imam’s dual citizenship, DRILLAS could participate in the Asia circuit for the RMR. They started in the Levantine & North African Open Qualifier where they came second to Kyojin and his team thus qualifying for the Closed Qualifier.
In the Closed Qualifier, DRILLAS played against teams from the Middle East and some of the teams they played against include JiJieHao, NOM, and Supferfkrs. After a disappointing start, the team proved that they are a force to reckon with by performing a lower bracket run to the finals. There, they met Onyx Ravens, a team that included experienced French players Jordan “Python” Munck-Foehrle and Christophe “SIXER” Xia.
Woro2k was at their best by the time they got to the finals of the competition. DRILLAS won Mirage 13-10 before absolutely destroying Onyx Ravens on Ancient with a score of 13-1 to qualify for the RMR.
Can DRILLAS get to the Shanghai Major?
As Woro2k is in such a great shape, DRILLAS have a good chance to qualify for the Shanghai Major if they are able to perform like this against teams like TheMongolz. In any case, Ohnepixel’s streams will be must-see content as DRILLAS try to overcome the obstacles of the RMR. Stay tuned to esports.gg to get the latest information and news about CS2!
