DreamLeague Season 21: A $1 Million Showdown Set for September 2023

The eSports arena is buzzing with excitement as the ESL FACEIT Group (EFG) announces the return of the much-anticipated DreamLeague for its 21st season.

As part of the ESL Pro Tour (EPT) initiative, this grand event is slated to run online from September 18th to 24th, 2023, and will spotlight 12 of the world’s elite Dota 2 teams vying for the top spot.

DreamLeague Season 21, consistent with its last two editions, boasts a staggering prize pool of $1 million USD.

The condensed format this year is attributed to the upcoming International 12 (TI12) event scheduled for October 2023.

While the tournament will be held online, all participating teams will be flown to designated bootcamps in Europe.

As of now, 10 out of the 12 teams have been unveiled, including notable names like Evil Geniuses, Team Liquid, and Shopify Rebellion.

The event will kick off with a group stage round from September 18th to 21st, featuring two groups of six teams each.

This will be followed by the playoffs from September 21st to 24th. The winner will walk away with a hefty $300,000 from the prize pool, with the rest being distributed among the other teams based on their final standings.

Shane Clarke, Director, Game Ecosystems – Dota 2 at EFG, expressed his enthusiasm for the event, highlighting that DreamLeague Season 21 will be played on patch 7.34. As the last top-tier competition before TI12, it offers teams a golden opportunity to hone their skills and strategies.

DreamLeague Season 21 is a continuation of the EPT initiative, which was launched in March 2023.

The EPT, with a total prize pool of $17 million for its inaugural season, aims to complement Valve’s DPC environment and bolster the Dota 2 competitive scene.

DreamLeague Season 21 promises to be a thrilling spectacle for Dota 2 enthusiasts worldwide.

With top-tier teams, a significant prize pool, and the event serving as a precursor to TI12, fans are eagerly awaiting the action-packed battles that lie ahead. The event will be broadcasted live on the ESL Dota 2 Twitch and YouTube platforms, with more details, including talent information and match schedules, expected to be released soon.
