The next chapter in Dota 2’s ever-expanding universe is here and it brings the game’s newest hero, Kez, the Bird Samurai, or the Hero of the Revolution. This new and enigmatic feature of Valve’s MOBA was revealed during TI13 immediately after the Short Film Contest and is already causing buzz across the esports scene.
During a short teaser trailer, fans were introduced to Kez, the head of the Kazurai Order and the leader of the Flightless, who enters Dota 2 as the game’s newest playable character. Kez is expected to release alongside Crownfall Act 4, which is yet to be released this month. Who Is Kez?
While the specifics of Kez’s powers have not been disclosed, teasers and leaks have provided quite an interesting image. Kez will be formally introduced to the Dota 2 team when Crownfall Act 4 is released. Kez’s Lore – The Rise of the Flightless
Kez’s story is directly connected to the Crownfall event which has brought some of the most significant changes to Dota 2’s narrative. The main conflict is based on the fact that Queen Imperia has decided to prohibit the worship of the goddess Scree’Auk. Having lost her divine powers, Scree’Auk has transferred the rest of her divine power to Dragonus (Skywrath Mage) and Shen (Vengeful Spirit), thus leading a rebellion against the cruel queen.
This rebellion revolves around the Flightless, a lowly class within the Ghastly Eyrie, people who are born without wings and are therefore denied the ability to fly. Nevertheless, Scree’Auk stays their guardian, and now the head of the Kazurai Order, Kez, takes the leading position in the fight against oppressors. He has seemingly usurped the leadership from the previous characters, Kraw and Kestral, and makes him an important character in the rebellion.
