Playing Dota 2 in 2024 and still fighting with your friends? A little old-fashioned or maybe just old?
A new trend sweeping through the Dota 2 Reddit community asks just one cheeky question:
“Old enough?”

What’s the Deal with the “Old Enough?” Posts?

The “Old enough?” posts are nostalgic to Dota 2 players. They are pretty much just for people to post screenshots
or moments that they think represent the ‘glory days’ of the game. Some of the most requested submissions are
Dota 1 wallpapers, gameplay videos, young Gabe Newell, or even the chubby Storm Spirit.
The joke is on the community as it sometimes likes to flex on or tease newer players for not knowing every little
thing about the game’s history.

Fundamentally, the trend is a fun way of reminding everyone of Dota’s roots and a way for players to bond over nostalgia.
However, like all viral trends, it has gone in some pretty crazy directions. One of the most specific posts was dedicated
to Aeon of Strife, the StarCraft custom map that led to the development of the modern MOBA.
To the uninitiated, Aeon of Strife was a forerunner to Dota 1, which set the stage for the competitive genre that is
still popular with millions of players to this day.

How Young Is “Not Young Enough” in Dota 2?

If anything, this trend has shown that a lot of Dota 2 players have been playing the game since Dota 1 days.
Some of us have been clicking creeps for almost two decades!

Originally released in 2013, Dota 2 has become one of the biggest MOBA games in the market and added complex mechanics
to the game while still being a mod of Warcraft III. It’s sad to think about how much time has gone by not only for the
game but for us as well for those of us who have been playing it for years.

We have also grown with the mechanics. All of us who used to sharpen matches after school are now in our late 20s or 30s,
with careers, families, and, admittedly, somewhat slower hand-eye coordination. However, the priorities have changed, and
yet our passion for Dota 2 remains the same.
