Dota 2 Ranked Player Draft in Chaos Due to Role Mismatching in Immortal Bracket

Dota 2 players are experiencing role mismatches since Patch 7.33 introduced a new ranked player draft system.

The system assigns a captain to each team who selects the remaining eight players. However, some players have been falsely claiming they can take on multiple roles, only to reveal they can’t play any of those roles when they’re picked.

The problem is particularly prominent in Immortal Matchmaking where selecting roles is optional, leaving players unable to report others for not playing their stated roles. This can result in a carry player who is ranked as Immortal but not at the same level when they play in the offlane, leading to team weaknesses that opponents can exploit for easy wins.

Although Dota 2 players have welcomed the team-building aspect of the new system, the role mismatching problem has caused significant dissatisfaction among high-level players.

The community has suggested that Valve adds a way to hold players accountable for their stated roles or provides a more detailed interface for captains that showcases other players’ statistics to help bring order to matches.
