Dota 2 Patch 7.37d

Dota 2 Patch 7.37d

As fans wait for Crownfall Act IV, Dota 2 has not disappointed with patch 7.37d bringing some major changes. Published by Valve on October 1st for North America and at early morning for the rest of the world, this gameplay update aims at several key items and heroes, changing the meta just in time for upcoming tournaments.

Major Item Nerfs: Arcane Boots and Gleipnir

Some of the most used items in the current patch such as Arcane Boots and Gleipnir have been hit with big nerfs. Arcane Boots, which is popular among supports because of its low cost and mana regeneration, became more expensive: the recipe now costs 475 gold. Worse still, the mana regen that it provides has been lowered, and the active mana replenish has been lowered from 175 to 150.

Gleipnir, which is another item that is popular for its ability to contribute to team fights, also received the hammer. It now costs 550 gold to make a recipe, but that is not the end of it. Even its basic attributes such as damage, attack speed, health bonus and chain lightning damage have been cut down. You should not expect to see more Gleipnirs in the next pro matches or at least there will be more thinking before picking it up.

Tackling the Tank Meta

Valve also worked on the tank meta that has been plaguing the game, where some heroes were virtually unkillable due to stacking health items. Solar Crest was nerfed, making it slightly weaker, while Spirit Vessel was buffed, making it even more powerful against heroes with high health. The expectation is that there will be less of the invincible heroes in the late game, which will make matchups more balanced.

Big Changes to Bracer, Null Talisman, and Wraith Band

Another shift was to the stat-boosting items – Bracer, Null Talisman, and Wraith Band. Before, these items would increase their attributes by 100% at level 25, which made them very useful during the final levels. In 7.37d, however, this feature has been dropped completely. It is an odd move that disrupts well-established itemization plans, but its consequences are yet to be observed.

Hero Nerfs: TI13 Favorites Hit Hard

As predicted, some of the strongest heroes from TI 2023 were not spared. Dragon Knight, Lone Druid, Luna, Monkey King, and Windranger have all been hit with nerfs, which are probably due to their success in competitive play.

However, the “whirlwind facet” of Windranger – that one-button ability that dominated TI13 – has been nerfed, which should help balance this hero’s power. In the same way, Lone Druid, a hero that has been responsible for numerous bugs this year, has had his “Bear Necessities” ability adjusted. Perhaps this will stop those pesky unstoppable spirit bears from disrupting everyone’s day.

On the other hand, Valve is attempting to make Tusk’s other side, Tag Team, more desirable, but come on—Drinking Buddies looks more tempting.

Effect on DreamLeague Season 24

These changes are coming at the right time for DreamLeague Season 24, where we are sure to see pros changing their drafts and approaches. If you are a fan of Dota 2 betting, it is high time to reconsider your choice, especially if your favorite teams are Windranger or Tusk players. This patch could drastically change their effectiveness in competitive play.

Crownfall Cache II, But No Act IV (Yet)

Although this patch does not deliver Crownfall Act IV that many of you were expecting, we do get the launch of Crownfall Cache II, in addition to these important balance changes. It’s a step in the right direction, but many fans are still waiting for the next big hero and content update.
