Astralis AWPer and Former IGL Takes a Break for Health
Astralis’ star AWPer, Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz, has stated that he will not be able to play in the PW Shanghai Major 2024 European RMRs due to stress-related health issues. Therefore, he will not be able to play for Astralis at the Major if they make it, so his competitive comeback will be in 2025.
Astralis to play without dev1ce
On his Twitter account, dev1ce said that after discussing with doctors, he realized that “it is best for me to step down to focus on my health.” This comes after he was experiencing poor sleep, cramps, heart palpitations, and extreme fatigue during the recent BLAST World Final in Singapore, which has not improved.
For dev1ce, a four-time CS Major champion, this is a familiar though not a happy situation. He had to step down from playing due to health problems when he was with Ninjas in Pyjamas and he only played most of the 2022 season before coming back strong to Astralis. Currently, dev1ce has his sights set on a return at the beginning of the new season in the coming year.
Roster Adjustments: br0 and cadiaN Step In
As dev1ce will be out for the rest of 2024, Astralis will promote benched rifler Alexander “br0” Bro to the starting lineup. Also, the newly signed IGL Casper “cadiaN” Møller is expected to take up the primary AWPer position, which he has played before. The first match of EU RMR B for the PW Shanghai Major 2024 will be between Astralis and 9Pandas.
