Danish Organization Tricked Esport Shuts Down as Key Investor Withdraws Support

Tricked Esport, a Danish esports organization, has confirmed its closure after losing financial backing from esports and gaming investment company RightBridge Ventures.

In February, Tricked Esport issued a statement attributing rising operational costs to unfavorable market conditions.

The organization explained that even if costs had been reduced, the right conditions for ongoing operations no longer existed. Consequently, Tricked Esport has filed for bankruptcy. Established in 2012, the organization has competed in various titles, including CS:GO, League of Legends, FIFA, Fortnite, and Hearthstone. In addition to its competitive teams, Tricked Esport also ran an academy program for budding esports players in titles like VALORANT and Rocket League.

The current economic climate has hit many segments of the esports industry hard. In April, Rocket League news outlet Shift announced its closure due to operational costs, while Cowana Gaming, Torrent, TENSTAR, and X7 Esports have also ceased operations in recent months.

Carlos Barrios, CEO of RightBridge Ventures, commented on the shutdown, saying, “We see a problem in how the market has developed and in the Tricked offline business model in the current market. Even if the decision is tough to make, the result for the entire group will improve in the long-term with the decision.”

Tricked Esport has stated that all remaining staff and players can seek new employment once their current contracts expire.
