CSGORoll Ceases Operations in Australia Following ACMA Investigation

CSGORoll, a popular CS:GO skin gambling and trading site, has been banned in Australia after an investigation conducted by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA).

The decision to withdraw CSGORoll from the Australian market comes shortly after its controversial partnership with G2 Esports, which received significant promotion from CS:GO player Ilya ‘M0nESY’ Osipov, who recently turned 18.

The ACMA investigation revealed that CSGORoll offered “casino-style online games,” a practice that is currently prohibited under Australia’s Interactive Gambling Act 2001. In addition to serving as a skin trading platform, CSGORoll allowed users to convert in-game items into a currency that could be used for various casino games. Notably, winnings were paid out in the form of skins, which could then be converted into real money through third-party platforms.

The Interactive Gambling Act 2001 in Australia prohibits the operation of casino-style online games involving money or any other form of value. The ban on CSGORoll highlights the ongoing debate surrounding skin gambling within the esports and betting communities, as numerous unregulated and underage gambling sites have plagued the CS:GO scene.

Nerida O’Loughlin, Chair of ACMA, explained the agency’s decision, stating that providing online casino-style games is prohibited in Australia when played for money or anything else of value, including online gaming skins. O’Loughlin further expressed concern about skin gambling services, as they often target young audiences and have the potential to turn gamers into gamblers.

In addition to the ban on CSGORoll, the site’s parent company, Feral Holdings Limited, has received a formal warning from ACMA.

Earlier this year, several major CS:GO skin trading sites, such as CS.MONEY and CS.TRADE, established the non-profit Skin Traders Alliance to foster a safe and transparent environment for sustainable market development.
