CS:GO Asia Championships Makes a Grand Return with a $500,000 Prize Pool in Shanghai

The renowned CS:GO Asia Championships is set to make a comeback, as Perfect World announces an eight-team tournament with a whopping prize pool of $500,000.

The event is scheduled to take place in Shanghai, China, from November 8-12.

Prominent teams such as G2, ENCE, FaZe, Liquid, and MOUZ have confirmed their attendance.

Additionally, the finalists from the upcoming Perfect World Arena Premier League S5, featuring some of Asia’s top teams, will also be joining the fray.

While the event prominently features CS:GO in its title, there’s a twist. The organizers have hinted to HLTV that if the new game, Counter-Strike 2, is officially launched by the event’s commencement, it might replace CS:GO as the tournament’s main game.

Perfect World had previously organized two tournaments under the same banner in Shanghai during 2018 and 2019. The 2023 edition signifies the return of Counter-Strike to China, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic halted large-scale events in the country for nearly three years.

This championship will also serve as a rehearsal for Perfect World.

They are gearing up to organize the second 2024 Major in Shanghai, in collaboration with PGL, as previously reported by HLTV.

The return of the CS:GO Asia Championships is a significant milestone for the eSports community, especially for fans in China.

With top-tier teams, a hefty prize pool, and the potential debut of Counter-Strike 2, the event promises to be a spectacle that fans worldwide will eagerly anticipate.
