What is ADR in CS2?

ADR or “Average Damage per Round” is the total amount of damage you do to opponents on average per round of a match. While kill counts may show that you’re not racking up the frags, ADR shows that you’re a consistent player. High ADR can tell you that you are doing a lot of work to weaken enemy targets before others come in to deal the killing blow.

For instance, you may have fewer kills than you would have preferred at the end of a game but if your ADR is good, it means you are contributing a lot to your team. This metric also gives an insight into gameplay dynamics – at times, positioning or staking might reduce your ADR. For instance, if you are a CT holding Ramp on Nuke, you may not have much to do if the enemy does not come to your vicinity. In these cases, a low ADR does not equal a low performance; it is all about perspective.

Why is ADR Important?

It is important to monitor your ADR for personal development and to know how you contribute to a team. If your kills are mediocre but your ADR is high, then it means you are contributing to the team’s success by softening up the enemy for your teammates to eliminate. It also shows where you can deal the most damage or where you need to change your strategy concerning a particular encounter.
