Counter-Strike 2 is Back in the Limelight at the 2025 Esports World Cup

Counter-Strike 2 or CS2 has been confirmed as a returning title for the
2025 Esports World Cup (EWC). This comes after it made its first appearance at the event in
2024 where NAVI emerged as the champions in one of the team’s most memorable wins of the year.

CS2 Esports World Cup 2025: Key Details

Alongside other popular games such as Rainbow Six Siege and Call of Duty,
CS2 will return to the spotlight in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The 2025 EWC is set for
August 20th to 24th, and it plans to be a standout event in a packed CS2 competitive calendar.
Luckily, the event does not overlap with other events directly, as it concludes a day before the
BLAST Open London 2025 starts.

The stakes are even higher this year for CS2 competitors at EWC. The total prize pool has been increased to
$1,250,000 from $1,000,000 in 2024, and teams will qualify through Valve’s
Regional Standings system. Here’s the prize distribution breakdown:

  • 1st Place: $500,000
  • 2nd Place: $230,000
  • 3rd-4th Place: $100,000 each
  • 5th-8th Place: $40,000 each
  • 9th-16th Place: $20,000 each

Expanding the EWC Legacy

The 2025 Esports World Cup is set to be one of the largest esports events ever. In the previous edition,
the total prize pool across all games was more than $60 million, and fans are waiting to know whether
this year’s version will cross this figure. As more titles are announced for the event daily, the inclusion of CS2
only adds to the excitement.
