BLAST.tv Paris Major Makes History as First Counter-Strike Event Streamed Live on TikTok

BLAST, the esports tournament organizer, has teamed up with social media platform TikTok for the highly anticipated conclusion of the final CS:GO Major in Paris.

In a groundbreaking move, the tournament will be streamed live on TikTok, marking the first time a Counter-Strike event will be featured on the platform in this manner.

The partnership aims to bring esports fans closer to the action of the Paris Major through a series of integrated and customized features on TikTok. The decision was prompted by the overwhelming success of the dedicated hashtag for the BLAST.tv Major, #BLASTTVMajor, which garnered over 100 million views on the platform.

The BLAST.tv Major has gathered the world’s top 24 CS:GO teams, competing for a prize pool of $1.25 million (~£1 million) and the prestigious title of the best Counter-Strike team in the world. The event is expected to attract over 50,000 fans at the Accor Arena in Paris and will be broadcast worldwide in more than 100 territories and 24 languages. Skyesports has also recently announced that they will broadcast the BLAST.tv Paris Major in Hindi.

For esports fans, the TikTok experience during the Paris Major will feature a dedicated page with unique perspectives and on-site reporters. Exclusive content will be created, showcasing popular personalities such as LittleBigWhale, Raramuathra, and SwammyXO, among others.

Robbie Douek, CEO of BLAST, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating, “The esports world will have their eyes firmly fixed on Paris this week when the world’s best Counter-Strike teams descend onto the French capital to compete for the coveted last-ever CS:GO Major trophy. Teaming up with TikTok will allow us to bring fans even closer to the experience with a number of integrated features and exclusive content on the platform.”

The BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023 represents a significant transition for CS:GO, as Counter-Strike tournaments will soon shift to Counter-Strike 2, the newest installment in the franchise. PGL has been announced as the organizer of the inaugural Counter-Strike 2 Major, scheduled to take place in Copenhagen later this year.
